INSIDES: POLYXENE

DUE TO COVID-19 WE ARE IN LOCKDOWN, WITH CLUBS BEING CLOSED. AS WE STILL WANT TO KEEP UP WITH MUSICIANS AND DJS AROUND, AND FEEL THAT DIGITAL STREAMS ARE IRRETRIEVABLY LACKING THE SOCIAL ENERGY OF LIVE MUSIC EVENTS AND ARE NOT ABLE TO COMPENSATE FOR IT, WE ARE LOOKING FOR CONSOLATION IN WORDS. IN THE END MUSIC IS A SOCIAL PRACTICE. INSIDES FEATURES VOICES FROM VIENNA’S ELECTRONIC MUSIC SCENE, LOOKING TO EXCHANGE IDEAS, FIND MUTUAL INSPIRATION AND EXIT STRATEGIES, ENTERING PERSONAL REALMS.

Hello, how are you?

Pretty fine!

Where are you right now?

At home, 1440 district..sitting on my desk. Watching through my window the grey sky and the trees. Beautiful!

Which sounds surround you?

A podcast I hear from Sc, also the sounds of the early morning busy streets.

Have you been productive so far? What are you working on?

Yes, I have been productive. I spend more time now on making music.
At this moment I’m finishing a track which will be released digitally on a complilation from Tales of Psychofonia. Will be my first one, very excited!

Going again through Twilight Zone (1959, tv series), the Disrupt channel on youtube, lots of sci fi short films, documentaries and anything related to wildlife and animals.

What’s your opinion on live-streams? You see any alternative ways to support the music community?

As we all know, of course it cannot replace the feeling of being ‘one’  in a club but maybe is better than nothing. There are are some times that I’ve listened/watched some and I enjoyed it.  Other times though not at all, depending on my mood.
Let’s don’t forget that there were anyway many platforms providing daily live streams so I think that was quite natural to happen. We are just more exposed to it now.
Concerning the support of the music though, it’s surely helps a bit but I’m not sure how this could be continued longterm. The other way I only know is to still buy music, for the people who still are able to.

What are you missing most? What are you afraid of?

I worry that the masses even more from now on will not take the courage to really question every new law and restriction.

What will change you think?

Economically it has already changed as we can see. More fear and confusion is on it’s way as well as an expansion of mass surveillance.

What is the gig or occasion you were most looking for, that was cancelled in this period?

I was really looking forward to play abroad this year. I was mega excited to play in Bristol on June. Also to Lhf in Croatia as well as Vienna’s Walden.

Are you still able to pay your rent?

So far, yes.
