Daphne von Schrader

Daphne von Schrader is a visual artist currently researching bacteria and the biological effect of sound. As a noise artist, she develops conceptual lecture-performances in which she explores sound in the context of ecological, social or personal issues. In one of her most recent sound pieces, she explored the physiological effect of certain frequency ranges and investigated how sound can influence a listening organism. Her electro-compositions are acoustic collages of associated impressions and feelings. Between noise synthesis, frequency manipulation and love songs, she reconfigures environments and narrates narrative sound phenomena. Away from sound, she works on projects between installation, sculpture and film. She studies Sculpture / Art and Intervention at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

In 2020, together with other artists, she founded ‘Klub Møntage’ – a project for interdisciplinary research and improvisation and realised the 6-day research festival ‘Montage camp’ for sound and media art in August 2024.
