RESi, is the culmination of over a year and a half of live performance-based experimentation. The album revolves around the use of resonators to shape and evolve minimalistic sound sources into rich and complex auditory experiences. STURMHERTA begins each piece with a simple element—be it a sine wave, a bass drum sample, or even the ambient silence of a room captured through a microphone. From this humble starting point, he employs a wide array of resonating tools, including digital effects like comb filters and feedback-laden choruses, as well as physical objects such as metal surfaces and drums. Even the room acoustics and the naturally occurring feedback of amplified microphones become integral components of the compositions.

Through meticulous control of these elements, STURMHERTA crafts a dynamic interplay between rhythm, texture, and resonance. The resulting tracks are immersive sonic environments where the boundaries between source and effect, intention and accident, are constantly shifting—offering listeners a meditative yet unpredictable auditory journey.

Linz based Daniel Haas aka STURMHERTA is a sound artist and experimental musician whose work delves into the boundaries of resonance, minimalism, and sonic complexity. His practice is rooted in exploration and experimentation, using both digital and physical resonators to transform simple audio inputs into intricate soundscapes. STURMHERTA’s approach often blurs the lines between digital synthesis, physical acoustics, and the natural behavior of feedback, resulting in performances and recordings that are as much about process as they are about the final sound.
